With a successful launch of his "New Day" album, award winning and internationally acclaimed Ghanaian music star, Chemphe, has returned to Ghana after his successful stint in Norway.

Chemphe, who was the headline act at the KFUK-KFUM TT Global Festival in Gjovik in Norway thrilled enthusiastic patrons of the conference to great rhythms and a message that is set to transform the global youth movement. He performed the theme song "global citizens" and a couple of other songs in an electrified audience in Gjovik including “change is gonna come”.

A rep for the award winning singer issued the following statement: "We are very happy to be back home after the trip to Norway. From the day we landed till the day we left everything was amazing! The reception was great, the audiences loved the performances and I can confidently say that Chemphe has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. We are back home and it's all about promoting the release of the double album, New Day and Hidden Emotions".

The event organisers also released a statement describing how satisfied they were with the performance of Chemphe. "We are very happy to have had him at this event. His contribution to the success of the conference has been breath-taking. We hope to have him back anytime, anyday. Chemphe is a true African star", the statement said.

Chemphe has won the hearts of many music lovers across Europe, Asia and Africa. He has been described by some as the lyrical rhythm of Ghana and a music voice that can be likened unto great ones like that of Nelson Mandela.

In honour of the International Nelson Mandela Day, marking his 93rd birthday, Ghana’s Urban music singer, Chemphe released “Global Citizens (Together For Change)” to re-echo the word of the mentor.

In an exclusive Ghana Music.com interview, Chemphe said he was "feeling great" for singing for Mandela and the whole of Africa, hoping this song will go places.

The song starts with Mandela giving a short speech before Chemphe sings about discrimination, togetherness, love, poverty and more in the five minutes seventeen seconds song. Like the Mandela Day says “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day”, Chemphe would like to end with that adage.

Chemphe is set to launch his website, www.chemphesings.com and embark on a nationwide tour to promote his new album. Watch out for Chemphe in a venue near you.

Hip life artiste and current National Youth Organiser of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Obour known in real life as Bice Osei Kuffour has finally launched his campaign to seek the high office in MUSIGA.

Obour has since May 2011 showed his readiness in becoming the next president of MUSIGA to change the plight of musicians in the country and also to continue from where current president Diana Hopeson will be leaving off.

Being the youngest in the contest for the MUSIGA presidency, Obour joins veteran musicians like Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Nana Tuffour and Willie Roe with similar ambitions. At his media launch/briefing, Obour outlined his seven point agenda. It is picked from his motto ‘AJUMAPA’ literally means good works, an acronym for: Administration, Jobs, Unity, Music business, Ageing, Policies and Achievements.

Explaining his chosen agenda, Obour told the media his seven point agenda conveys developmental plans and programmes that are tangible, realistic and deliverable if he is elected as MUSIGA President.

He said MUSIGA is not attractive and appealing to all manner of musicians because of lack of adequate systems and structures in the Union. Under his presidency, Obour promised to work vigorously to put better structures in place to take care of musicians, notably old musicians who become inactive in their old age.

In an exclusive interview with GhanaCelebrities.Com, the Ghana Music Awards 2004 Artiste of the Year winner said he will work hard to make musicians who are members of MUSIGA benefit and make non-members jealous. This, he said will force the non-member to quickly become members of the Union.

“I will work hard to make members who are musicians benefit so much that if you are not a member and a musician, you will feel left out so you would want to be a member”.

When asked if he’s had any calls from any of the competitors for him to redraw from the competition because he is the youngest in the race. Obour told GhanaCelebrities.Com that indeed he was approached by certain individuals to step aside, to which he refused because of lack of tangible reasons.

He said: “I’ve had several of those in the early stages of my decision to compete for this position; I had numerous calls, not by the candidates themselves but by different individuals but they didn’t have tangible reasons. Because anybody that approached me, I asked them that, do you think that I can do the work and they all boldly tell me, Obour, we know you are the best man for the work.”

Though most of the people still believe Obour is too young for the MUSIGA Presidency, he feels otherwise and will be contesting the MUSIGA President in the upcoming MUSIGA Congress slated for Tamale on August 16-18, 2011. Present at the media launch to show support was high life musicians AB Crentsil, Rex Omar, Praye Honeho, A-Plus and Okyeame Kwame who doubled as the MC. Also a video was showed of some musicians, radio presenters endorsing Obour in a documentary. Some delegates from other regions were present to show solidarity.

Obour is seeking the MUSIGA presidency to rebrand MUSIGA and make musicians wealthy. Vote Obour for President – AJUMAPA!

The headline seems a bit presumptuous, but I have cause to believe that the “Give me Blow” rapper might still have some ties with the Lynx Record label.

In a press release from the stables of Lynx Entertainment via their official website www.thelynxfamily.com announcing the launch of their “Back 2 Zero” scheduled for the 29th of July, this year at the Aphrodisiac Night Club, Asem was mentioned as one of the 22 artistes who featured on the album.

Clearly the “Back 2 Zero” project kicked started when Asem had left the Achimota based label. The question then is, is Asem’s presence on the album an indication of a probable reunion or a reinstatement to the lynx Record label?

In a related development, there are speculations that Asem is starting his own record label and is likely to be called “Wob3dant3m Records”, after his ever popular signature line.

When the craze for ‘crunk music’ hit Ghana some few years ago, he caught up with it and released his smash hit and award-winning, ‘Woso’.

Now that elements of techno music and house music are trending in Ghanaian music, rapper Okyeame Kwame surely isn’t about to let it slide; his next single from his upcoming album, ‘The Clinic’ follows suit in the most unfamiliar fashion.

The single, ‘Holla at U’ featuring Godwin Williams of Soul Black fame and music director for TV3 Mentor singing contest is a fast tempo and danceable track that sees the rapper rapping fully in English. After the mellow first single, ‘Faithful’, fans can surely do the ‘Azonto’ dance to this one!

Three months after winning the maiden edition of the Vodafone Icons: Divas Edition reality competition, R&M is now ready with their first professional single release.

The single titled “Let You Hair Down” (LYHD)” is not only expected to attract rave reviews from music industry watchers and analysts but is also expected to pave the way for the launch of the group’s debut untitled album which is currently in the works.

The song’s original version was earlier performed at the finale of the show and it garnered so much attention the group decided to make their first full single on a worldwide release.

“We want to send a strong message out there to all our fans who can be found in all age groups, that’s why we fused different musical styles in the remixes” added Stephanie Lindsay The video for the song has been shot already by Nana Kofi Asihene of NKACC and is currently undergoing final editing, for release in the coming days “This is an invitation for Ghana and Africa to come out and party with us through this song and we know they would” commented Natasha Dede The group is already in touring mode combining rehearsals and recording of their

Sexy songstress Mzbel known in real life as Nana Ekua Amoah is set to release a single on her unfortunate encounter with the police on Sunday June 5 where she was alleged to have attacked a policeman.

Mzbel and two others were reported to have deliberately run their Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle with registration number GR 9470-11 into the policeman who fell on the bonnet of the vehicle, an allegation she denies.

The controversial musician, together with the two were arraigned before court and remanded but were later granted bail after her lawyers filed an application at the Human Rights court.

The singer told Myjoyonline.com in an interview Wednesday that she is currently in the studio with producer JQ recording the track titled My Bonnet to be released in a month’s time.

My Bonnet…it has to do with my issue with the police,” she said emphasizing the song is not aimed at explaining her side of the incident or defend herself but rather it is “just a comic song,” for her fans who have been very supportive of her during her trial times.

No more albums

Asked when her fans should expect another album from her, Mzbel disclosed that she is no longer going to release albums considering the numerous challenges artistes face when they release songs and albums.

The ‘Saucy girl’ reiterated that “people don’t buy albums no more, they copy”, a situation she insists is becoming worrisome considering the fact that it is depriving musicians from making incomes from their works.

For her, she is going to release a single every six months and will largely depend on incomes from shows and concerts since that’s the ultimate source of income for most, if not all, Ghanaian musicians.

Aside her upcoming reality television series Bell and the City, Mzbel is the star of Venus Films Production’s latest movie, Single Six where she plays the role of Serena, one of the lead roles in the movie.

That movie premieres July 29.

After months of reports that sexy musician, Mzbel, known in real life as Nana Ekua Amoah has nabbed a role in an upcoming movie, Single Six, the movie is ready to hit movie screens.

The movie from the Venus Films Production stables stars several known actors including Yvonne Okoro, Beverly Afaglo, Ebi Bright, Zynell Lydia Zuh, John Dumelo, David Prince Osei and Adjetey Annan and Ciara Zita Galega.

The movie is directed by Pascal Amanfo and a special preview of it has been set for on July 19 ahead of its premiere on July 29, both at the Silverbird Cinema.

Mzbel plays the role of Serena, one of six lead roles in the movie. The songstress told the Graphic Showbiz in an interview in May that while this production had received a lot of media hype, it would her first shot at the silver screens.

“I played a supporting role in Socrate Safo’s Destined Child and lead role in Miracle Film’s Ye Ko Mmaa Pe. I even auditioned for Venus Film’s Princess Tyra but I didn’t get a role. Venus called me to play Serena, a spoilt actress. I didn’t audition this time around. The role seemed cut out for me.”

Executive Producer of the movie, Abdul Salam Mumuni described the 16 Years singer as a good actress, stating “Mzbel did very well in the movie. She interpreted her role very well. She was simply fantastic and contributed a lot to the film. I will describe her as a good actress considering the fact that this is her first go at lead role.”

Single Six tells the story of six beautiful young single ladies who were on the verge of giving up their beautiful fancy lives to get married. But before getting into marriage, they decide to enjoy their last pleasures as single women.

Their first choice of excitement was to visit exotic places in the world and headed to South Africa. With their desires satisfied, they finally decide to get married, forgetting they also have careers to forgo and habits to quit.

With their careers now at stake, they are left with questions as to whether they have made the right decisions or have just met the wrong men to just satisfy their egos.
