Popular sexy Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah is making a comeback on the silver screens as a Catholic sister in an upcoming movie described as Ghana’s first Christian movie.

Martha, who is noted for playing seductive roles, is one of the few Ghanaian actors tagged to have strong Christian principles. The new movie is titled ‘Anointed’ and brings back a whole new Martha Ankomah; but reflecting her real off-screen life.

She played the role of a Catholic sister being blessed with a healing and delivering power. She claims to have gotten it due to her ‘virginity’ and since it was a free gift from God, she takes no money for the services she renders.

Her call is to help young girls to keep their virginity before marriage. However, to her surprise, none could be found in the city, aside her.

In her quest, Martha was kidnapped by ritualists. Can her dream be fulfilled? That’s for movie enthusiasts to find out for themselves.
The movie is a debut from Filmcity Production.

Anderson Godwin, CEO of Filmcity Production, said, “The end time is now hence our outfit touches more of the gospel. Any Christian who for a good reason feels the Lord has forsaken him/her should get a copy on September 29.” “Through filming we hope to win souls for Christ,” Anderson added.

Come September 22, all roads will lead to the Silverbird Cinema
in Accra for the premiere of the movie of the moment, ‘Single &
Married.’

‘Single & Married’ is from the stables of Media GH with top actress
Yvonne Nelson as the producer. The premiere would be Yvonne’s first experience as a producer and she was putting things in order to present a standard event.

The new movie had a lot of interesting and captivating features in
areas of cast, pictures, story and others. The storyline explained certain happenings in marriage with greater focus on how most men eternally craved to love and to be loved.

Their emotions, passions and thoughts defining their affiliations,
they ultimately walked down the paths of life in search of destiny.
Lucky enough, some ended up married…many single and yet a
few…just in between!

The movie told the suspense-filled story of Jay, played by 2011 Pan
African best Actor Chris Attoh, a top league real estate contractor;
Kim (Yvonne Nelson) ex-model and fashionista and a contemporary
housewife; Raymond (Kweku Elliot) an accomplished sculptor;
Paula (Nadia Buari) a stuck-up lawyer; Ranesh (Kofi Adjorlolo), a
69-year-old multimillionaire and Vida (Tana Adelana), a woman just
in it for the money.

The lives of these six characters were inter-woven in a comic but
thrilling plot of love, lust and lies. The very essence of their personalities was tested and at the end of it all, marriage became just a game everyone played.

Movie enthusiasts will be privileged to see the entire story on
September 22 as the movie premieres at the Silverbird Cinema in
Accra. It also starred Eddie Watson, Anita Erskine, Efya, Tiffany and it was directed by Pascal Amanfo. Anita Erskine played the role of narrator and did a marvellous job at that. After the Ghana premiere, the movie would be premiered in Nigeria on September 28.

The matter of how much is charged for an artiste’s performance has been topical all over the world.

And especially in Ghana, there have been various speculations on the amounts Ghanaian artistes charge for their performances. Owing to this, inspirational rap group and only rap group in Ghana made up of blood brothers, Bradez, has debunked views that Ghanaian musicians charge too much for performances.

To Bradez, a lot go into music production and promotion. In that respect, musicians should be given what is adequate for their performances and investment.

It is, however, to this effect that the group, which is made up of Kwaku Nsiah- Boamah (Flow King-Stone) and Kwaku Nsiah Amankwah (Kunta Kinte) recently released a music video on YouTube titled “SIKA”
(L’ARGENT). This music video seeks to clarify life in the eyes of the musician. And this involves becoming a musician, and ensuring its success in the music industry as well as maintaining this success financially.

Speaking of success, however, Flow King-Stone, the elder of the group, disclosed money as the pivot of matters in the music industry in that even after producing music, money is what enables the artiste to produce another song for the fans to use it for their own gratification. But little do others know about how much money involved in making production possible.

On this, Stone states the hassle of making payment to each party involved in producing music to making it reach the listener with an estimate of 17000 Ghana Cedis aside what is even given to radio presenters.

Then the matter of hit making comes in the situation whereby the artiste is left with the condition of either accruing profit or having loss from the music in which huge amount of monies had been invested.
But Bradez, as they have always maintained their grounds in the music industry, says it is always ready to give Ghanaians the best.

Hotter than cayenne actor and presenter, Chris Attoh has excellently graced Glo’s Big Friday show.

He displayed his hosting prowess by helping the show’s regular host - Basketmouth move the show in-between being interviewed and cracking jokes.

Chris Attoh answered questions such as whether it was more lucrative to act in Nigeria or Ghana, to which he answered: “Nigeria is a bigger market but I will say, bargain right wherever you find yourself”

And the most ridiculous thing he ever heard about himself being that he was rumoured to be gay awhile back. The actor stressed that there was no truth in it whatsoever.

The show was the 12th episode of the season. Episode 10 of the show also featured Ghanaian artistes Efya and R2Bees.

The Big Friday show is hosted by popular Nigerian comedian Basket Mouth and powered by Glo.

[postlink] https://xclusiveght.blogspot.com/2012/09/im-not-only-good-for-romance-van-vicker.html[/postlink]
Ace Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker, has responded squarely to his critics who still doubt his versatility to act all-round, insisting he is simply more than the stereotypical lover-boy they think of him.

The light-skinned actor told the press in Accra that, he admits the fact that some people do not like him as an actor and the way he acts.

But this, he noted, should not be the yardstick for his critics, particularly in the media, to forever stereotype him as only good for romance and lover-boy roles, “which is a wrong tag I refuse. Don’t put me in that box.

“I accept that not all people will like how act, which is also a reason why I named my film production company as Sky Orange Productions, which name is devoid of anything related my name Van Vicker,” he said.

Van said this in response to a question posed him at a brief press conference held at the Silverbird Bar in Accra last month, shortly after an exclusive press preview of his latest own-directed film, The Hands of Time.

A reporter had questioned the exact message that the storyline sought to convey because it was not too clear and easy to tell from watching the film, to which Van Vicker said he himself would not be able to answer.

“This is because the film talks about so many things, so to give it one message will be sort of inappropriate. But if you still want a message, you can say ‘don’t trust people too much’ or something like that,” he explained, adding that, “actually, it is not every film that you’ll watch and get a message. Sometimes, it’s may be about the entertainment value and I think that is one context we can place this film!”

The two-part film, recently premiered at the Silverbird Cinema, talks about two sisters, Dantee (Nadia Buari) and Phyll (Phoebe Evwuraye), who got separated when a wealthy man adopted the latter as his only child.

The man willed all his estates to the adopted daughter (Phyll) upon his death, including his multinational insurance company. But Kwabena (Kofi Adjorlolo), the covetous husband of Phyll, wanted all the wealth to himself, so he plotted and killed Phyll.

Meanwhile, Dantee was gifted to seeing visions and, as a result, was able to determine who killed her sisters. She, therefore, decided to avenge the sister’s death by first marrying Kwabena who knew nothing about Dantee’s relationship with Phyll.

The role of Van Vicker in this movie – which he directed himself – is one of a cleaner who, by his exceptional intelligence, was promoted to become the Personal Assistant (PA) to Kwabena.

“I don’t always get to become a lover-boy, and this is one such role,” Van Vicker teased, as he called on the public to book their copies when the film is finally released onto the market in the coming weeks.

[postlink] https://xclusiveght.blogspot.com/2012/09/asem-to-drop-new-single-on-september-11.html[/postlink]
After the release and huge success of his sophomore Solid Ground, one would think or assume the Bye Bye hit maker will get complacent and relax with his efforts but the Award winning rap artist ASEM, is about to run radio again with yet another classic 'ADOLE'.

The song which is a fusion of Afro Gome(Ga traditional instrument ) electro and funk centres around the appraisal of a rare African beauty named' ADOLE'. ASEM as usual exhibits lyrical dexterity with vivid graphic lyrics that one easily pictures with their minds eye to describe the qualities of this true Ghanaian beauty.

One can call it ASEM'S winning combination and just like he did with Bye Bye( kwabena kwabena ) and Dear John ( Pat Thomas ) the award winning rapper once again sought the help of melodious silky voiced award winning highlife crooner Quabena Maphia to tell the 'ADOLE' story, and the 'I GO PAY' hit maker did justice to it making the song another classic coming from the WBDN camp.

The song which was produced by the talented Genius Selection, like the twin towers ( no mockery of US tragedy intended ) will drop on radio stations and social media on 9/11 (11th september ). When asked why he chose that date as his release date ASEM smiled and said 'ADOLE'S' beauty is as perfect as 9x11, 99% she's just 1% away from 100%. He laughed after saying this.

The handsome fluent rapper also added he chose the name 'ADOLE' in honour of all the true beautiful Ga/Ghanaian/African women who were forced into puberty rites and the ones who are still going through this harsh treatment in the name of tradition.

Make sure you are glued to your radio set on tuesday 9/11 ( 11 september) and catch the first time airplay of 'ADOLE'.

The late 1990’s in Hiplife would have never been the same without the irrefutable contribution of one man and his producer.

When the upcoming rapper - yearning for recognition- met the amateur beat-maker - who made music only as a hobby- in the early 90’s through a mutual acquaintance, in Hammer’s own words, “we clicked”.

Together they came into the business and took it over with one putting out endless bars of poignant Twi rhymes filled with punch line precision spewing kitchen – sink realities against a background of hiphop bass and synths that got our heads bumping and mind working. To most industry pundits, the album that materialized from the combination of this dynamic duo spanned the best LP of the hiplife music genre.

Aptly titled “Pae Mu Ka”, the album, Obrafuor’s debut, was an acclaimed success and a breadth of fresh air on the music scene. One of the songs, ‘Kwame Nkrumah’ paid a resounding tribute to Osagyefo and encouraged Ghanaians to unite and work for the best of the country. ‘Pae mu ka’ covered various aspects of entertainment of society with songs like the title track, ‘Yaanom (announcing his presence), ‘Aden’ (talked about life’s struggles), ‘Agoro no aso’ (party song), and ‘Kokonsa’ (gossip). The album enjoyed a lot of airplay that to this day, the “intro and outro” tracks are still played during radio programmes.

Years later, the dynamic duo of the thriving rapper and the “reluctant” genius of a beat-maker return to take the stage once again for one night only as together, they re-live the “Pae Mu Ka” album experience in a performance that is set to make the create fireworks on the night of 21st September, 2012 inside the DOME of the Accra International Conference centre.

At the press launch of the “BACK IN THE DAY” Concert, Hammer, revealed that he may be performing a live beat making set on stage and it is expected that he may be doing the parts of the “Pae Mu Ka” album live as well in what indeed promises to be an experience to relish on the night which also happens to be Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday.

Other legends of the 90’s music era set to rock on the 21st September, which also happens to be Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday, will include VIP, BUK BAK, TicTac,TH4Kwages, Keteke, Kontihene, Ex-Doe, Chicago and a host of others.

Meanwhile tickets for the concert are set to be released soon and will be selling at GHC50 regular and GHC100 for VIP seating.

The BACK IN THE DAY Concert is powered by Empire Entertainment and Media GH with support from www.ghanaweb.com, www.ghanacelebrities.com, www.ghanamusic.com, Rainbow radio, YFM, Weekend Finder, Graphic Showbiz, 4Syte TV, JOY FM, Hitz FM, Okay FM and Peace FM.

[postlink] https://xclusiveght.blogspot.com/2012/09/ghana-azonto-craze-takes-over.html[/postlink]
Azonto is an essential part of Accra's bustling fishing communities. In Jamestown, music blaring from speakers prompts children and adults to break into step.

Some dance crazes last barely longer than the time it takes to flip to another radio station. Others prompt Mexican waves of booty-shaking across borders. Thus, Ghana's Azonto, in which the dancers mime everyday activities, has taken over dancefloors across Africa, Europe and the US.

Azonto originated among the Ga people of Ghana. Like their Apaa ("work") jig, revellers wash, drive or dial phones to the tune of a hip-shaking beat, a jived-up version of charades. "Even old people love it," said Julie Quaye, a 53-year-old housekeeper. "It's the expressive nature of it – you can do anything creative with it." Unabashed, she showed off the latest moves learned from her teenage son, one of thousands who throng to monthly "dance-off" competitions in Ghana's clubs and beaches.

It is of course not the first dance craze to ripple through west Africa. In Ivory Coast the bird flu dance – intended to provide comic relief as the virus hit west Africa – rapidly spread to neighbouring Togo and Benin, while the bobaraba ("big bottom") prompted a rush for "bottom enhancers" from dodgy market sellers.

But Azonto is one of the few to make the leap north to western capitals, featuring on the clubbing scene from Amsterdam to Paris. Since entering the UK mainstream this year, the foot-twisting bug has been adopted by Prince William and Piccadilly Circus performers, and even invaded school PE classes.

Some see its roots in the snake-hipped performances of Congo's Kanda Bongo Man, but fishing communities such as Jamestown, overlooking the sea in Ghana's capital of Accra, are indisputably its spiritual home. From behind pastel-coloured walls and traditional palace murals, the catchy music spills into the streets and is lapped up by passersby.

On Sundays, some churchgoers practice an adapted version – Chrizonto – while enthusiasts can be spied in music-filled funeral processions winding their way down Jamestown's hilly roads. "It's a good way to honour the dead, isn't it?" said Richard Aryee, a coffin-bearer on a recent Saturday, breaking into step beneath the casket balanced on his head.

International footballer Asamoah Gyan celebrates goals with it, making the dance as much a national rallying point as Ghana's Black Stars team. It has even gone academic; the University of Ghana plans to look into "harnessing Azonto for Ghana's socio-cultural and economic development", and has recruited Azonto's biggest champion, Sarkodie, who describes himself as a "rapaholic".

"Even the name is crazy," said Accra resident Ramsey Taiwo, who teaches Azonto boxercise with his twin brother, Shady, in between starring in music videos. Enthusiasts wanting to learn have come from as far afield as Germany, they said.

Earlier this year, Kwaku Ageyman, a London-based fitness trainer, was watching music videos with friends who had come back from holidays in Ghana. "Azonto was everywhere. I was thinking how about putting some of the moves together in a fitness class for some of the African ladies that wouldn't normally go to the gym," the 25-year-old Londoner said.

The popularity of the class spiralled. Ageyman found himself teaching moves such as "scratch your back" and "hustling" in school PE lessons and hen night classes.

The dance's popularity has soared in Europe with the arrival of chart-busting Afrobeats hits, a term spanning west African dancehall to hip-hop. Nigerian Afrobeats frontman D'Banj was so impressed by one enthusiast's YouTube videos – whose White Boy Azonto! racked up over a million hits – that he recruited him to perform an Azonto jig in his music video Oliver Twist, itself another popular Nigerian dance.

Closer to home, where Afrobeats staples have long lent themselves to a dizzying plethora of dance fads, Azonto faces stiffer competition. In Ghana, the Amanda, nicknamed "African Salsa", is threatening to knock Azonto off its perch.

However, the craze clearly has wide appeal as it can even be found in Nigeria – although the country's long-running cultural rivalry with Ghana means it is embraced only grudgingly there.

On Lagos's Alpha beach, to the blare of music from a mobile phone plugged into speakers, Jibril Tenney energetically demonstrated current popular Nigerian dances. Azonto didn't feature. "[Nigerians] have already had the Yahozee, something like our own Azonto, so it's nothing special for us," he said.

That didn't stop him from leaping into a backward shuffle, startling nearby idlers, when a popular Azonto track began playing from the speakers.

"Is it from Ghana? We play all the Azonto tracks by Nigerians," said Alex Kpelle, the owner of the chic rooftop De Marquee club in nightlife-loving Lagos. Later, as the packed room erupted over Nigerian wunderkind WizKid's Azonto Freestyle. he added: "It's like a magic word; look around, nobody can sit down."

The Big In Ghana Talent Hunt and Tour came to an exciting end on Saturday the 1st of September at a packed Holy Gardens in Accra.

FOKN Bois, Efya and Yaa Pono, along with the new found talents, all gave away mind-blowing performances, that left both audience and artists wanting more. The tour is sponsored by Bavaria, supported by Alomo Bitters and hosted by PY of The One Show.

The eclectic crowd went absolutely wild when Afro Harmony, a live band of young musicians, warmed up their instruments by playing hits from both the Highlife and Hiphop genre making both young and old sing and dance. The beautiful display of lights, LED images and crisp powerful sound coming from the Big In Ghana stage attracted many people from all over the neighbourhood.

The concert opened with the talent competition winners. The well composed Ohene Amoako (Tema) set it off with his song “So Mu Gyi”, followed by powerful duo NT4 (Kumasi), the free spirited Anas (Takoradi) and the crowd favorite Bryt (Accra) who together with his little brother managed to send the crowd into deafening applause.

After the talent competition Yaa Pono took to the stage like the boss he is performing hits like “Oh Joe”, “I Dey Feel You Die” which featured Faint Medal and “Shopping Mall” to which each and every member of the crowd sang and rapped along.

The sultry songstress Efya left the crowd in awe of her magestic grace and powerful voice singing her hit songs “Sexy Wahala”, “Little Things” and “Best In Me” to mention a few. She pleasantly surprised the fans by ending her set by re-inviting Yaa Pono on stage to perform their collaborative song “Good Morning”.

The FOKN Bois (M3NSA and Wanlov the Kubolor) sealed the night with an eclectic collection of their music both individually and as a group. Their performance was as wonderfully engaging as their often controversial lyrics.

They got the crowd singing, dancing and laughing as they performed songs like “Sometimes”, “Thank God We’re Not A Nigerians” and “Ko Ti Eduro” where energetic Wanlov shocked the crowd by tugging away at his skirt to reveal bright pink panties. The crowd lost their minds.

In addition to enjoying free live in-depth performances by their favorite musicians, the crowd got the chance to win ‘Big In Ghana’ merchandises as well as souvenirs and drinks from the sponsors. The ‘Big in Ghana Talent Hunt & Tour’ is an initiative of Africa Unsigned and FOKN Bois, sponsored by Bavaria, supported by Alomo Bitters.

It witnessed auditions across Takoradi, Tema, Kumasi and Accra in search of new talent to give them a platform to launch their career in music. Four winners were chosen from the various cities to tour alongside the FOKN Bois, Efya and Yaa Pono.

No one really knows why shoe infatuation is associated with the female gender. It is not like we make that much of a fuss over men and their Nike Jordan, so why pick on women and their shoes?

For some, there is just something about slipping into a nice 4 inch strappy heel for a night on the town. Ironically, the shoes that women love so much are actually putting a toll on their feet, as well as the rest of their body.

What is the culprit? Foot doctors and surgeons have been alerting the public for years now about the harm that shoes with high heels can cause. The worst of the bunch are the ones that present narrow toes.

These can lead to health problems without a woman even knowing the damage they have done to themselves. Some cases even result in deformities of the foot that just will not go away.

There is even evidence that suggests that high heels also cause arthritis of the knee, as well as other joint disorders. Who would have ever thought that a shoe could bring down your health? This has led to the efforts of numerous foot experts, who wish to bring better healthcare measures to women who simply cannot part with their shoes.

Several orthopedic foot and ankle specialists have gotten together to approve a variety of products that will help in foot care. They will also assess which shoe selections are reasonable for the maintenance of knees, ankles and feet.

High heeled shoes have been the leading cause bringing women to visit orthopedic doctors, who seem to be seen by these type of doctors four times more than their male counterparts.

The constant wearing of shoes with high heels or narrow toes have led to a high incidence in corrective foot operations. This is what happens when women choose fashionable footwear over health and many of them aren't even aware that they are doing it.

The results of repeated narrow or high heeled shoe wear of today's latest fashion trends have been compared to the Chinese practice of foot binding.

Although women who endured this practice showed signs of joint problems, they never sustained any bone deformities. It is usually the front of the foot that reveals common foot problems. Years of wearing improper footwear lead to bunions or other infractions of the toe. These signs often surface in middle aged women.

These problems are caused by increased foot compression and pressure when wearing narrow shoes or high heels. To avoid these foot problems, women don't need to discard their love of shoes, but instead make wiser choices when it comes to footwear.

That means settling for a shoe that is light and comfortable and doesn't have a tight area for the toes. Also, women must stray from tempting selections with a high heel. In the long run, your feet will thank you for your efforts.

The Notting Hill carnival is held in London and is the second biggest carnival in the world with an attendance of over a million people.

This year’s carnival will be dear in the hearts of Ghanaians because one of its artistes, Gasmilla also known as the King of Azonto gave a good account of himself and country by giving of an exhilarating performance during a pre-carnival concert.

The said concert was dubbed “Groovy Soca Fusion” and was held from late night 25th August till the early morning of the official commencement date of the carnival which is 26th August.

Other acts that graced the concert were Trinidadian Soca super star Benjai; Rupee singer of Global smash hit Tempted To Touch and Olatunji.

Gasmilla was backed by the Unique Silver Dancers and together they delivered a routine which was described by observers as a fine blend of Azonto and the waist winding Soca dances.

Once again Azonto has pushed Ghanaian front further on the global music scene and Gasmilla is proudly hoisting high the Ghanaian flag.

This passion is expressed in the colored labeled shirts he wears with a single message, ‘Azonto-2-Da-World’.
